What Is This!? Many of you know precisely what this is! I’m finally attempting to get back into the habit . For those who I took the liberty of adding to the list, there was a time when I sent out regular mailings on various topics that I found interesting. Approximately eighteen months ago, I decided to attempt to move you all from email to the Social Web. I failed miserably! Well, I mostly failed – some number of people have engaged on Twitter , subscribed to RSS Feeds , connected via......

With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance? – Jay Leno...

if – it creates a condition, precedes a conditional statement; however, the master can do far more with an if statement. Some Project Manager says, “Hey! We need a blafgartfee document! Bubba, could you get that done for us?“ To which Bubba responds, “I got no idea what that looks like. If you send me an example or a template, I’ll get it done.” See, the creation of a condition … “you must send me an example or template” before Bubba will do anything. Three weeks later, some some Project Managers says,......

Many years back, in the early 1990’s, Tracey and I got married. We were young and with our lives before us we spent many hours dreaming what our lives would ultimately be. I was given to poetry and had recently read Laughter in the Walls by Bob Benson. It captured so well our own particular dreams at the time that I copied it down and made some ever so slight changes to accommodate our own lives. I utterly forgot about, but Tracey hid it away safely in an album with other keepsakes,......

Thursday, January 7th 2010, I will be celebrating my 39th birthday. I like to celebrate anything and everything and in particular I want to celebrate the fact that, regardless of what we all thought would happen, I’ve survived this long! To that end, we will be having a bit of a party on Thursday night, here at the house (Contact me if you need directions)! If you can’t make it to Lowell, NC … feel free to Twitter, Facebook, or call in to join the fun. People should eat healthy before they......

Happy New Year! Out with the old and in with the new. I particularly find the practice of making New Year Resolutions interesting. It is commonly looked at as a frivolous and fruitless exercise. Every year, people all around the globe “resolve” to do, or not do some action … and then begin waiting for the time when they lose their “resolve”, break the resolution, and can get on with their lives in much the same way they did last year. How rare is the individual that commits to a resolution and......

We have officially started up the Friday Night campfires again! For those who haven’t kept track, we called it off over the summer, what with everyone traveling and quite honestly, Tracey and I wanted a bit of a break. However, we are now back into full swing and the attendance appears to increase each week. The whole thing started when we moved into the house almost three years ago, I wanted to combine my love of Theological and Philosophical discourse with my love of sitting around a fire, and so I proceeded......

I’ve been told, on occasion, that I am a relatively good story teller. There’s no doubt I have been blessed with the Gift of Gab; whenever the opportunity arises, I tend to have story to tell that in some way, shape, or fashion fits the situation. It has been suggested that I document these stories and perhaps even write a book. I’m not sure that I am in the book writing class of story tellers; however, I reckon I can blog my stories as well as anyone and it honestly doesn’t feel......

A friend mentioned being unhappy in Chicago and I (obviously) suggested the he move to North Carolina. Another friend advised me to “stop pushing my new drug” and I flippantly stated that pushing it is half of enjoying it. The exchange and wordplay has stuck with me for a while now and I haven’t been able to shake the analogy. It would be unfair to give North Carolina all of the credit, although it tends to get a lot of focus. In reality, there is a “perfect storm” of paradigms that have......
